Like pixels in digital image, more knots per inch give more definition
to a pattern. A
greater knot count is recommended for intricate patterns and patterns
with curved lines,
especially in smaller rugs.
Tufted - Our commercial quality tufted rugs are hand made, look just
like a hand-knotted rug
on the surface and feature the same high-quality New Zealand wool we use
in all of our rugs. The
pattern "resolution" is comparable to an 80 knot rug, but the wool is
secured to a fabric
foundation using latex rather than being knotted and tied into a
traditional cotton foundation.
60 knots - Our least expensive hand-knotted option uses a thicker wool
yarn that makes a
bigger and more bulky knot. These rugs are heavier and have a thick or
deep pile that may not
fit under some doors.
80 knots- A mid-thickness yam allows more knots to be made it each
square inch, which adds
greater definition to a pattern. The pile is cut shorter, and will fit
under most doors.
100 knots - Our finest standard knot count gives the greatest definition
to rug patterns, and
produces a lighter and finer rug. Though the pile is thinner, it is more
dense and smoother on
